Jack Layton made us laugh,
His smile was warm,
He gave us hope,
He got us to work for the better of all,
He taught us to use our freedom of democracy,
To rise above despair and misery,
And now that he has gone to his heavenly home,
We feel and know,
If we work by our will,
He's freeing us still.
